Phones mishear words — the app is built for it.
«Agua» can reach the app as «aqua», «water» as «weather». Every word in the gallery carries the ways phones mishear it, and when the phone hears one of them, the app counts your answer as the word.
The app never says «wrong». If you spoke and the phone caught nothing, the word is not marked as forgotten. If the phone heard a different word, the app shows the word you were asked for under the microphone and brings it back a little sooner.
Only silence or «skip» counts as «I don't know».
