Word Gallery

Why do I have to say the words out loud?

Nick the cockatoo, answering

Because words you say are remembered better than words you only read.

Memory research calls it the production effect: saying a word aloud, rather than reading it silently, makes it easier to remember later. And speaking is what you will do with the word.

So every answer in Word Gallery is spoken, and the app listens. It never says «right» or «wrong».
